Psychotherapist & Hypnotherapist Warrington

I am a friendly and highly professional Psychotherapist and hypnotherapist working from my office in Warrington, Cheshire.

If you feel a little stuck in your life or you are struggling with certain feelings, then why not let me help you try to find the perfect balance in your life, so you can enjoy the feeling of being free from your unwanted emotional problems.

There are so many problems that we face daily, that we can become very anxious, stressed and even depressed. This may be short lived, or may continue for several months or even years. I generally specialise in anxiety disorders, which includes conditions such as panic attacks, Social Phobia, specific phobias, OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), GAD (Generalised anxiety disorder), but I also see many people suffering with depression.

It is important to know that if you suffer from any type of emotional disorder, it isn’t your fault! And the feelings you have need not define who you are as a person. It is important to see them as separate from you. We can gently work through the feelings and thoughts together to find the correct path for you. We are all different as human beings, our symptoms may be the same but behind each story is a very unique personality, and a unique set of circumstances.

I use an integrative approach to therapy, employing hypnosis and psychotherapeutic skills and techniques to help you realise your goals and achieve the permanent change you desire. I am skilled in understanding individuals’ needs and lifting the limitations and negative beliefs that affect people in their everyday lives, and this includes the workplace. My education and training provides me with the expertise to operate within a range of conditions and I include brief and creative interventions to the everyday challenges faced by individuals and businesses.

I started my involvement with hypnosis in the late nineties after studying self-hypnosis and the positive effect it could have on the way we think and feel. Once I realized how powerful hypnosis could be there was no stopping me. I digested everything I could on the subject and this lead me to study professionally with the National College of Hypnosis and psychotherapy. This particular training organization has been going since 1977 and provides training second to none.

Ok, so what’s a Hypno-Psychotherapist then?

The difference between a hypnotherapist and a Hypno-Psychotherapist is that a Hypno-Psychotherapist is a practitioner who has undertaken a minimum of 4 years of Masters Degree level training (approx 1800 hours) in hypnosis along with its treatment within psychotherapy, rather than the 400 hours a hypnotherapist would undergo to receive a diploma alone. This means that I can utilise my skills in hypnotherapy but also employ integrative psychotherapeutic interventions to help you achieve your goals.

I have been helping clients with their problems for many years and I have worked closely with individuals in the TV and film industry, including actors, directors and producers. My approach is friendly, empathetic and professional and I have been told on many occasions that I am a natural at placing people at ease, making you feel comfortable and understood. I help individuals create extremely positive outcomes by recognising and then eliminating the very limitations and beliefs that stand in the way of change.

I have an innate ability to work sensitively and compassionately with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, fear and phobias but I also help individuals with Quit smoking hypnotherapy, weight loss hypnotherapy, gaining confidence and much more (please also see page on treatments). Through the powerful use of hypnotherapy the reasons behind the presented symptoms can be identified and the individual guided to accept a new and more positive way of functioning.

Are you ready to embrace change in your life?

Does Hypnosis work?

This is one of the many questions I get asked whenever I go out socialising or meet new people, and the slightly mischievous side of me replies “no’, just to see what their reaction is.

But ultimately I tell them that hypnosis, and in particular, hypnotherapy is an extremely effective intervention and this has been researched in many medical journals from around the globe. It’s been around for thousands of years in some shape or form, and has sat alongside and been integrated in other forms of psychotherapy with great efficacy. This is the reason I trained as a Hypno-Psychotherapist, I can use many forms of therapy outside of and within hypnosis and for me, and my clients, this forms a long lasting effect. There is simply no point doing what some hypnotherapists do and merely read a pre prepared script out to you. This may work for some but if that is the case you may as well buy a pre recorded MP3 or CD with a session of hypnosis on.

So what do I do that’s different??

We work together to uncover your thought patterns and how those negative thought patterns affect the way you feel and ultimately, the way you behave. But there may be underlying thoughts upholding the main thought. So it really is a process of elimination. For hypnosis to truly work, you need to know where you are going with it, things change in session, new things are discovered and so the hypnotherapy has to adjust completely to make use of the information we have talked about.

For Example : Very often, the object of a person’s worry is not actually the problem! The problem arises by the way in which we think about the object. It’s very often our thoughts which let us down. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has become increasingly popular because it is seen as a relatively brief therapy, which is the reason the NHS use it. Effective, and in many cases, quick!

If you are looking for hypnotherapy as a way of helping you with your problems, then have a good look around this site, and if you believe that I am the one to help you, then please drop me a line.
The use of hypnosis dates back thousands of years but it is equally as fascinating today and has such a wide and versatile application. If you have any questions about hypnosis, hypnotherapy or Psychotherapy, please just drop me a line and I will be more than happy to answer your queries.
I look forward to working with you.
Regards

Chris.
